Hengistbury Head

Hengistbury Head is a historic and picturesque headland overlooking Southbourne and Christchurch. The headland is one of the most important Sites of Special Scientific Interest in England, being the primary division between Poole and Christchurch Bay and boasting spectacular views across the nature reserve, Bournemouth Bay, Christchurch Harbour and the Isle of Wight.

Towered Above The Pebbles

Over 1 million visitors explore Hengistbury Head each year, and it is no surprise why. The headland overlooks an unspoilt beach that is featured nearly every year in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards. It is a perfect place to head out for a walk, sit on the beach and maybe even enjoy a picnic while you are at it.

How to get there?

There a few different parking options for Hengistbury Head but the one I use can be found with this postcode, BH6 4EL. From here its only a short walk to the beach and then up the hill to the top.

Make sure you get there early on those busier days as parking can fill up and so can spots to sit and watch the sunsets!
