Boscombe Pier first opened on 28th July 1989 but back in 2008 went through extensive renovations to demolish the derelict and unsafe building at the end of the pier to replace it with a simple platform for viewing and fishing. The pier is a favourite spot of mine, with beautiful views along the coast, different activities and many delicious food places dotted around nearby. For those looking for a bit of fun, the pier has had handcrafted and unique musical instruments installed where you can play some beats to see if you can hold a tune. If you are like me and can’t keep a beat to save your life then why not try the mini golf course that stretches along the pier. Open daily from 10am-6pm, there are 18 holes to challenge your self and have some fun above the waves. Even if you don’t win, you can leave feeling good as the pier uses Ecobioballs. These are ecological and biodegradable balls that contain fish food at their core, once you are on your last hole, the ball will go into the sea where it feeds all the fish. Cool right?!

A truly Dorset inspired breakfast

Boscombe Pier has to be one of my favourite spots for breakfast in Bournemouth. A short walk up the hill, sat back from the ocean, you will find James & White. An independent bar & kitchen, celebrating local food from suppliers in Bournemouth and the New Forest. The Dorset breakfast is by far my favourite, and one that I seem to go back for time and time again. Although it is fair to say this place is a little more upmarket with its food and pricing, you can truly taste the quality with every bite and it feels good to know you are helping to support other local businesses.
