The Blue Lagoon

The jagged rocks and remaining ruins highlight the industrial past of Abereiddi’s Blue Lagoon. Up until 1910, this site was the main slate quarry of the St Brides Slate Company. The slate gives the lagoon a spectacular aqua blue colour to the water making it a favourite among adventure seekers along with the craggy coastline which surrounds the lagoon.

It is a very popular spot for coasteering and kayaking, on my walk up from the beach, I came across many wild water swimmers who were making their way back from the lagoon. However, don’t take this place lightly, with it being a former quarry, the water is deep and very cold so I’d recommend you take the plunge as part of an organised group.

The Abereiddi Tower

Up on the hill top and a short walk from the Blue Lagoon, you’ll find Abereiddi Tower. This small look-out tower sits on the highest point of the Trwyncastell Peninsula and is a must visit when you are next in the area.
